The Gospel of John, is one of the 66 books that comprises the Bible and was written so that you can discover for yourself who Jesus is. The Gospel of John comprises 21 chapters so if you read one chapter per day you can cover this in three weeks (Each chapter only take 5-10 minutes to read). This is simply the challenge and should serve as an introduction to the person of Jesus.
The below are a few helpful pointers:
If you don't have a physical Bible, the Bible made by Youversion on the App store can be used.
Try to set a regular time to do it each day as easier to forget if we are not in a routine.
Try praying before you read it, can be something simple like "God if you are real let me discover you as I read this".
Don't worry if you don't understand something, the more you read the Bible the more you will understand.
After reading a chapter, ask yourself "What stood out to me today?" or "What do I think God was trying to tell me today?" (you may want to make notes each day)
If you have a Christian friend you can ask them your questions or even have Bible reading sessions where a few of you can read it together - preferably over some tasty treats too.
Because the Bible was written many years ago and in a different language there is multiple translations attempting to make it understandable for the modern reader. Don't worry too much about the translation but NIV/ESV are common versions that are used widely in Christian circles.
What next?
You can then try reading another book of the Bible. The others gospels of Matthew, Luke and Mark give other accounts of Jesus' life which you may want to move onto or the book of Acts documents what happens once Jesus ascends and tracks the story of the early church.
