Tell me about Jesus
The Basics
Now there is alot of beliefs out there who Jesus is and was and what is written below is widely held Christian beliefs. We encourage you to read them and discover for yourself who he is.

Who is Jesus?
There was a man born over 2000 years ago called Jesus and lived a life that started the biggest people movement ever. He lived a life full of teachings that people still follow today and worked many miracles.
Not only do we believe that he was a man but also God. There was prophecies from hundreds of years before he was born that talked of a child that would be born whose name would be God is with us. From Jesus' claims to be able to forgive people their sins, being around at the beginning of time and calling himself by the term "I AM" are a few examples of him equating himself to God.
The ancient prophecies also talked about one who would be wounded for all the wrong things we have done. The name Jesus itself means he saves. At approximately 33 years old he was crucified. Just as many tribes and cultures have had sacrifices historically to get right with God. The Christian belief is that Jesus was this once and for all sacrifice that we can be forgiven for all our sins.
Not only do we believe he died on the cross but also he rose again and appeared to numerous witnesses after his resurrection. After a period of approximately 40 days he then ascended into heaven. Christians believe he will come back again to restore and judge the world.
How Can I get to Know Jesus?
The Bible consists of 66 books with 4 of them giving accounts of Jesus' life (commonly called the gospels). Some of these are written by eye witnesses and others around Jesus' early followers so they could investigate the stories. Reading these 4 accounts of Jesus' life are a good place to start (The books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John which can be found in the contents of the Bible).
As we believe that Jesus is still with us we can still talk to him today. I encourage you that as you try reading the accounts of Jesus' life to try saying a simple prayer such as "Jesus speak to me as I read this today".
How do I know it's true?
Now the short cut in this is that in the Bible there is a promise that says if we draw near to God then he will draw near to us. I encourage you to try reading the gospels as stated above and be open to God showing he is real to you.
If I were to give a longer answer I would firstly say something must have happened 2000 years ago to have started the biggest people movement ever. It seems implausible for the early followers to be prepared for the message if they had made it up. I believe the strength of a belief system is if it can jump people groups. Whereas alot of religions are still mainly contained by the people group it originated in, I believe that Christianity has shown the most ability to transfer.
